rosterRF release notes
What's new in each version. rosterRF is in open beta — it's improving fast, and your feedback shapes it.
0.9.15
- Fixed: the update check now looks at your platform's newest version. When Windows shipped ahead of Mac, both were told nothing was new. Windows and Mac now each see their own latest release.
- Fixed: a damaged history file no longer breaks the timeline and event log. If the 24-hour history database gets corrupted (a crash or hard power-off mid-write), rosterRF now moves it aside on the next read or at startup and starts a fresh one, instead of every timeline and event-log request failing silently. The old file is kept next to it as
history.corrupt-<date>.db. - Fixed: unexpected errors now answer properly. A route that hits an internal error returns a 500 with a message instead of dropping the connection, so the screen shows something and Copy diagnostics has the trace.
- Fixed: card details row with a long audio source name. Assigning an input with a long name used to widen the Audio in cell until the Swap button fell off the card and "Change source" wrapped onto two lines. The name now sits under the button, shortened with a hover tooltip, and the three controls stay on one line.
0.9.14
- New: Event log (View ▸ Event log…). Every time a mic went offline or came back, and every alert that started or cleared, across the whole show — last hour, 4 hours or 24 hours, with a CSV export. Built from the timeline history, so it covers the show even while no screen was open.
- Console follow is honest about silence and finds a desk again after a DHCP change (see 0.9.13), and the "No receivers found" screen now explains the two usual causes after 30 seconds instead of scanning forever in silence.
- The user guide is on the site (rosterrf.muffstuff.net/guide/) with new Stream Deck and Console chapters, and it's linked from the site header and footer.
- Stream Deck plugin 0.7.0 — the same seven keys, repackaged to Elgato Marketplace spec (new icons) so it can be listed in the Stream Deck store. Reinstall from the site to pick it up.
- Under the hood: the dashboard now lives in its own files (
ui/) rather than inside the app code — byte-for-byte the same page, easier to work on — and every build is now driven through a headless browser before it ships.
0.9.13
- New: Report a problem. Settings now has a "Copy diagnostics" button that puts a plain-text report on your clipboard — version, platform, gear summary by model, show and scene state, remote/console flags, and the last lines of the crash and trace logs. No photos, no names, no pairing key. Paste it into your report so we can see what you saw. "Email a report" opens a prefilled mail to info@muffstuff.net.
- Console follow tells the truth. The Console dialog only says "Following …" while the desk is actually answering. If the desk goes quiet, moved to a new address, or can't be found by name, it now says so (⚠ No reply / ⚠ not found) instead of quietly showing an inert "Following". A desk bound by name that picks up a new DHCP address is re-found automatically.
- Release pipeline: the Windows build now drives the real Stream Deck plugin against the built app and refuses to ship if the deck couldn't read status — the check that would have caught 0.9.10.
0.9.12
- rosterRF now remembers the active scene across a restart (and a saved show reopens on the scene it was saved on). Before, a restart left no scene "active", so the Stream Deck's Store Scene key had nothing to overwrite and the ▶ marker on Recall keys was blank until you recalled something.
- Stream Deck plugin 0.6.1 — keys tell you why. A refused press now flashes the reason on the key for a couple of seconds ("Recall a scene first", "Type a name in key settings", "Turn on remote recall in rosterRF", "Not paired (add token)", "Console owns scenes", "Open rosterRF on that PC", "rosterRF unreachable") instead of a bare ✗. The Store Scene name field is marked required.
- Stream Deck plugin 0.6.2 — Store Scene needs no naming. Its default mode now saves a fresh scene on every press, auto-named "Scene 4", "Scene 5", … (the key shows the next name; set your own prefix in the key settings). "Update the active scene" and "Save as a named scene" remain as options.
0.9.11
- Fixed: Stream Deck keys went blank / "Not paired" after 0.9.10. The tighter origin check in 0.9.10 also refused the Stream Deck app's own plugin pages, so Card Status keys lost their photos and status. rosterRF now recognises them again. Install this update and the new plugin from the site.
- Stream Deck plugin 0.6.0 — three new keys. Store Scene (overwrite the active scene, or save under a name you set), Line Check (start/stop, with a live "N to go" countdown on the key), and Clear Alerts (snoozes every RF warning on the host screen for 30 minutes, like pressing Dismiss on each). Card Status photos also load more robustly and retry after a slow start.
0.9.10
- Security: tighter browser-origin check. A web page opened on the rosterRF computer could, in one narrow case (a page served from a bare public IP address), talk to rosterRF as if it were the local dashboard. rosterRF now only trusts its own page, localhost, and private-network addresses. Phones, Stream Decks and the dashboard itself are unaffected.
- Stream Deck plugin 0.5.0 — setup text no longer mentions the retired
rosterrf.localname, points you to the right toggle (top of the Scenes tab), and drops the unused "Source name" field. Grab it from the site; it works with this and earlier rosterRF versions. - Removed a half-built "bind recall to one source" layer that had no controls in the app. Which console rosterRF follows is set in the Console dialog; that plus the single "Enable remote scene recall" switch is the whole model now.
0.9.9
- Fixed: Line Check no longer gets stuck. Battery chargers were being counted as mics to check — and a charger has no audio, so the check could never finish. Line Check now waits only on actual mics.
- Cleaner device list — Axient Digital PSM transmitters, the AD8C combiner, and the SBC441 PSM charger no longer appear (rosterRF can't monitor those), so they stop cluttering the list.
- New: step through cards from the detail view. Open a card and use the ← / → arrow keys (or the on-screen arrows) to jump to the next card's details without closing and reopening.
- Clearer "remove photo" — the small ✕ on a card (easy to mistake for "close") is now a trash icon, so it reads as "remove the photo."
- Fixed: the Console scene-follow dialog opens properly again. A missing control was making it error out on open, so its status and settings never appeared. It now also has a clear "Follow this console" switch.
- Fixed: the live RF scan no longer crashes when a backup frequency is in the band.
- Polish pass — consistent dialog layouts and button placement throughout, themed confirmation dialogs instead of raw browser pop-ups, clearer icons (a real trash can for delete — no more ambiguous ✕s), sentence-case feedback messages, keyboard access for the workspace tabs, and a round of internal cleanup.
0.9.8
- New: follow your console's scene recalls (Behringer X32 / Midas M32). rosterRF can watch an X32/M32 and switch shows automatically when you recall a scene on the desk — strictly read-only, it never sends anything back. Open it from the Console button. (More desk families are in beta, tucked behind the About screen.)
- New: High Density mode — a per-show "More frequencies" toggle at the top of the coordination row for tightly-packed RF (HD / Link Density) shows. It fits more channels and mutes the false intermod warnings that equidistant-grid setups used to flood you with.
- Fewer false alarms — charger bays and idle receivers (online but with no transmitter on) no longer raise spurious LOW-RF warnings. A genuinely weak-but-present mic still alarms.
- Battery display fixes — charge never shows above 100% again, and charger cards no longer stretch tall.
- Cleaner device list — Axient Digital PSM transmitters (ADTQ/ADTD) and AD8C antenna combiners no longer clutter the list as permanent "offline" devices or trip the device-page alert. rosterRF can't monitor those over its receiver protocol, so they're skipped.
0.9.7
- Fixed: cards no longer drift to the wrong receiver. On DHCP networks, when receivers changed IP, a card's name and photo could jump to a different unit. Each card's identity now follows the physical receiver (Shure by its hardware ID, Sennheiser by serial), not the IP address.
- Snappier Sennheiser EW-DX meters — the RF and audio bars update several times a second now instead of lagging behind.
- Sennheiser diagnostics moved into the Sennheiser setup dialog; mute detection hardened.
0.9.6
- New: "MIC MUTED" on a card when a Sennheiser transmitter is muted, so you can see at a glance that a mic is off (EW-DX and G3).
0.9.5
- Fixed: Windows installs no longer hang when an older rosterRF is open. The installer now closes the running copy first, so upgrading over an open app just works (no more "access denied").
- Fixed (macOS): the About menu no longer freezes the app.
- Sennheiser EW-DX now reads its channels correctly over the secure (SSCv2) API — a receiver that connected but showed no channels now populates. Added a Sennheiser diagnostics tool (Settings → Maintenance) that reports exactly what a rack receiver returns, to make setup painless.
0.9.4
- Fixed: phantom Sennheiser G3 receivers. A receiver now shows up only when it actually answers the G3 protocol with real data — a stray device that merely echoes a name back no longer creates a ghost card.
- Fixed: G3 receivers were labelled "Shure" in the device list. They now read correctly as Sennheiser (the cards were already right).
- New: "Purge offline devices" in Settings — clears every receiver that's offline right now (and any stale/phantom entry) in one tap. Real gear reappears on the next scan.
0.9.3
- Fixed: front-of-house consoles (and other gear) showing up in the device list. rosterRF now lists only real Shure and Sennheiser wireless receivers, and forgets any phantom picked up earlier.
- Fixed: Axient Digital battery time remaining. AD units now show time-left, not just bars (AD reports it differently than ULX-D — rosterRF now reads both). Time appears only with a Shure rechargeable battery; on AA cells the transmitter reports bars only.
- Remote scene recall is Stream Deck only for now — the console option is hidden until it's ready.
- Vendor-neutral wording throughout ("your coordination software").
- MuffStuff link and a Buy-me-a-coffee button at the bottom of Settings.
0.9.2
- Fixed: audio input patches now save. Set a Listen source on a card and it sticks — reopen the card and it's still there.
- Fixed: phantom Sennheiser devices appearing when two computers run rosterRF on one network.
- New: update notifications you can actually use — a notice that stays put (instead of flashing by) with a Download link, plus a "get it" link in Settings.
0.9.1
- Code-signed installer. rosterRF is now signed, so Windows installs it cleanly — no more "virus" false alarms. (macOS is signed and notarized by Apple.)
- Fixed the rosterRF icon on Windows notifications.
- Polished the header logo.
0.9.0
- International frequency coordination. Pick your country (US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, Japan) and rosterRF coordinates within your legal band — with suggestions where end-user coordination is allowed, and a licence note where the regulator assigns frequencies.
- Accurate, per-model RF data for Shure and Sennheiser gear, with upgraded intermodulation analysis.
- New battery gauge shaped like a battery, purple signal-quality dots, and an audio meter that runs green to amber to red toward clip with a peak-hold tick. RF is blue; audio owns green.
- Local-TV avoidance for US venues with a manual search distance (miles or km) and high-power-only option.
- Device-list button, a dedicated Sennheiser / G3 setup dialog, and one-row coordination controls.
- Optional check for a newer version on launch.
